Welcome to the monthly APPT blog hop where we will showcase alternate projects using the December 2024 Notes from the Heart Paper Pumpkin kit. Check out the projects I created using this kit and then hop along to all the other blogs for additional creative ideas.
For those of you not familiar with Paper Pumpkin kits, they are a subscription kit that get delivered right to you. Inside are all the supplies you need AND directions for assembling the projects for that month.
I love to scrapbook using the monthly kits. Shortly after my kit arrived, I shared this layout using the December kit, today I’ve got a few cards to share with you.
Let’s take a look…
For the birthday card I used a thick white card base and cut a layer of regular white. Before adding it to the card front I distressed the edges with my paper snips, then stamped one of the images from the Elements of Text stamp set with some mossy meadow ink. To give it a bit more of a rustic feel I splattered with my basic black stampin’ blend.
I LOVE the vellum leaves in this kit but wanted to add a bit more colour so I used mossy meadow ink and my blending brush on them. Once that was dry I added it to the card front and added a few sprigs that I had leftover from this layout and added my greeting. I love adding twine or thread to my projects so I added a bow tied from our twisted gold thread and finished it off with some of the gems from the kit.
The thank you card is very similar except instead of splattering ink I used a blending brush and ink blended a bit of mossy meadow to the card front.
For the third card, I kept it similar to the original card but added in the embossed strip of mossy meadow cardstock. This adds a bit of colour and makes the leaf really pop off the page.
Cards 4 & 5
Card number 4 was one of the last cards I made using up some of the leftover pieces I had sitting on my desk. The card base is blackberry bliss and then I added a layer of the same cardstock after embossing it with the Exposed Brick embossing folder and distressing the edges. I also added a bit of shading to the leaf with some blackberry bliss ink. The narrow strip of stamped and ink blended cardstock is leftover from the layout I created using the kit.
TIP: don’t throw anything away until you finish working with a kit because you never know when it will come in handy! The leftover pieces cut off from the layout I created using this kit were used on both cards 4 & 5!
Card number 5 starts with similar layers to card 4 but then I added in one of the everyday arches dies. These dies are my FAVOURITE right now and a must have. I also used the scallop edge that was leftover from the layout I created. The leaves were ink blended so they’d be green.
Last but not least…
I think the final card is my favourite. I mounted one of the scallop rectangle stickers (meant for the envelopes) onto a piece of mossy meadow cardstock and then added that to the centre of one of the card fronts. To add a pop of colour behind the berries, I added a bit of blackberry ink to the vellum leaves and then added the berries, greeting, twine and embellishments.
It’s such a simple card but beautiful. That’s my favourite thing about our Paper Pumpkin kits. You can easily create stunning cards, whether you use the kits as they are intended or make some alterations to make them more your own.
The Notes from the Heart Paper Pumpkin kit is no longer available, however, as of the time of writing this post, the refill kit is available (to Paper Pumpkin subscribers). The refill kit includes all the consumables, no ink spot or stamp set. But those are easy enough to substitute with something you may already have on hand.
