Welcome to the monthly APPT blog hop where we will showcase alternate projects using the January 2025 Hearts for You Paper Pumpkin kit. Check out the projects I created using this kit and then hop along to all the other blogs for additional creative ideas.
For those of you not familiar with Paper Pumpkin kits, they are a subscription kit that gets delivered right to you. Inside are all the supplies you need AND directions for assembling the projects for that month.
I love to scrapbook using the monthly kits. Shortly after my kit arrived, I shared this layout using the January kit, today I’ve got a a couple cards and a beautiful tag to share with you.
Let’s take a look…
This first card is a simple alternative. I cut one of the card bases down to 4″ x 5-1/4″, added it to the front of a thick white card base. Then popped up that beautiful champagne die cut heart from the kit, using dimensionals and added another die cut heart. To finish off the card, I added a greeting, a baker’s twine bow and three of the adorable hearts from the kit.
For this second card, I chose to focus on the champagne heart stickers that come in the kit. I cut a 2″ x 4″ piece of the leftover card base from the previous card. That was added over a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of embossed card stock. I used the Starstruck embossing folder that you can earn for free during Sale-a-Bration (until February 28th) with a qualifying purchase.
Then I added the centre heart using dimensionals and the other two heart stickers just flat. To finish it off, I added a greeting with a baker’s twine bow. I always love when the kits come with baker’s twine!
Tag
This is my favourite project that I created using this months kit. It’s a nice big tag that can be attached to a larger gift bag, added onto a scrapbook layout or start a mini album and add photos to the back!
I love making projects like this when I just need a creative project to work on and don’t want to make cards or scrapbook.
Here’s how I made it:
- Cut a piece of white card stock measuring 4″ x 8-1/2″. Trim the top to turn it into a tag.
- Stamp one of the script stamps from the elements of text stamp set, using flirty flamingo ink, to the background.
- Stamp the outline heart from the Hearts for You kit, using real red ink. And the solid heart using flirty flamingo ink.
- Once these images are fully dry, rub the entire tag with your embossing buddy. Stamp one of the splatter images with VersaMark. Sprinkle with gold powder and heat set.
- Distress around the edges of the tag using your paper snips. Punch a 1/8″ hole at the top.
- Using a blending brush and flirty flamingo ink, ink up two of the white heart strips that come in the kit.
- Add the heart strips behind a 2-1/2″ x 4″ piece of the red card base. You should have leftovers from the first card we made above. The heart strips get added so that all you see peeking out is the tops of the hearts. This gives us the scallop border. If this is unclear, you can see it done in this video.
- Add this to the centre of the tag.
- Add the champagne foil heart to the red heart as it’s meant to be in the kit. Then add that to the front of the tag using dimensionals.
- Stamp desired greeting with VersaMark ink, sprinkle with gold powder and heat set. Before adding to the tag, add a flirty flamingo twine bow.
- Finish it off by adding a selection of ribbons at the top. I used some of the gold open weave trim, some white woven ribbon and some ruffled real red ribbon I found in my stash.
