I’ve got something a little different to share with you for this weeks memory keeping Monday post – a terrific toadstools home decor idea. A couple weeks ago we held out 5th Creative Carnival to kick off the release of the January to June Stampin’ Up! catalogue and my product of focus was the terrific toadstools bundle. At these events we always have some loonie draw prizes and I was responsible for one of the prizes for this event. Today’s project is what I created.
The Details
This bundle coordinates beautifully with some of the pattern papers from the timeless plaid paper pack. I began by choosing the patterns that I wanted to use and my ink colours came from that. The colour combo is cajun craze, wild wheat, crumb cake and pecan pie.
All of the pattern papers and card stock pieces were distressed around the edges. To add a bit of texture to the cajun craze and crumb cake pieces, I stamped a few of the images from the Elements of Text stamp set.
The grass is cut from a die from the Playing in the Rain die set. I cut LOTS of them and then layered them to create the look of a thick lawn. Some are flat on the background and others popped up using dimensionals.
TIP: the bug in the timeless toadstool stamp set is just a solid image. To get it to look like a lady bug, I inked the whole think in real red and then used my black Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the legs and head. I stamped it on white card stock and then added the black dots using the black marker. It doesn’t have a die or punch so it needs to be fussy cut.
I wish that I had made two of these because it would be a great addition to the decor in my office. Unfortunately I didn’t write down any of the measurements. However, if it helps the frame is for an 8″ x 10″ photo.
I hope you enjoyed this terrific toadstools home decor idea!
Until next time,
