Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global February 2022 blog hop. This months theme is ‘Happy Birthday’. I can’t wait to see everyones birthday layouts.
As part of the Scrapbooking Global design team we participate in a monthly blog hop and challenges but anyone can join in if they’d like. We’d love to have you join us! Be sure to join the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group so you know when the sign up starts for our next hop.
The Pattern Party host dsp is one of my all time favourite paper packs and is usually my go to for bright cheerful layouts because of all the colours in it. For this layout I pulled out my package and grabbed a few 12″ scraps that I thought might work with my photos. I tore one long edge of each and then layered them at the top of a 12″ x 12″
Because the photos are pretty dark, I decided to pull in some black as an accent colour. The black & white stripe patterned paper is another pattern from the Pattern Party and then the black tag is dsp from the All Together dsp pack which is all black and white patterns.
The Words
I love to incorporate lots of words on my layouts. Sometimes in the form of journaling but other times I use my stamps. Don’t discount the greetings in your stamp sets for titles or accents on your layouts. Sometimes a greeting is just what you need to add a little something to your layout. Other times you can ink up just certain words from a greeting and add them to your layout like I did with the words ‘amazing’ and ‘wonderful’. Both of these words are from greetings from the Special Moments stamp set. The entire greeting didn’t work on the layout but those single words were the perfect addition.
For this particular layout I didn’t need to add any journaling because I’ve already scrapbooked some of the birthday photos and included all the journaling on those layouts. However, if I did want to include some journaling I’d probably add it to the granny apple tag in the lower right.
The Background
I’ve been playing a lot with the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative masks lately as I prepare for my upcoming team meeting and a class. They were still sitting on my desk when I went to design this months layout so I thought they’d be a great addition to the layout.
I used one of the background masks, some poppy parade ink and my blending brush to add a bit of a pattern below the photos. It filled in some of the white space but it felt like it still needed something. So I took my black Stampin’ Write Marker and coloured over the flower centres and a few of the other dots. This was just what it needed. Just another little touch of black.
