For this weeks memory keeping Monday post, I’m sharing this fun Festive Memories scrapbook layout. It’s a scrapbook layout I created for my Creative Carnival display this past weekend. My entire display was focused around the Reindeer Days suite collection on pages 26 and 27 of the September to December mini catalogue. I’ll be sharing many of those samples over the next couple months right here on my blog.
Everyone who did a display for our creative carnival was challenged to create a layout inspired by the sketch circled below. It was fun to see everyone’s version of the same sketch.
I chose to turn mine into a 2-page layout because I had an extra photo to add. So the left page follows the sketch and then I went rogue on the second page.
The Details
The photos were taken last year at Christmas. We had a family ugly sweater competition which was fun. Some of us got creative and decorated our sweaters, others just bought theirs.
There are so many great images in the Reindeer Days dsp that can be cut out that I used those to embellish my layout. After positioning everything I felt like it still needed something so I used one of the paper plates (about 9″) that I keep in my craft room to use to make larger circles, and lightly traced around it with a pencil. Then I took my paper piercing tool and poked holes. I didn’t go back and erase the pencil mark because it kind of gave the illusion that I stitched the circle.
I love the prancing reindeer along the top of the two pages. It looks like they are heading over to help the deer on the left decorate the tree. The other thing I did to bring in a bit of the pool party colour is that I added some ink blending behind a couple of my focal point clusters. This also helps to tie in the bit of turquoise in the photo on the right.
This has been such a fun collection of products to work with. I’m looking forward to working with it a bit more when I dig into the Reindeer Memories scrapbooking workshop kit. I’ve done a couple of the layouts but will be using that for my kill a kit club in December so will definitely be working with it lots more before then!
Until next time,
