For today’s post I thought I’d share a few of my book journal spreads. I love to read and have been keeping a book journal for a couple years now. It has changed quite a bit from year to year as I try different layouts and ways to document my reading journey.
I’m a stamper but in this journal I use a combination of products – stamps from various company’s, stickers and downloads. I will try to indicate where products are from if I can remember. Anything that is from Stampin’ Up! will be linked at the bottom of this post.
This first photo is my title page for 2025. I created a book shelf and then used a few images from the For the Books stamp set and plant from Attention Shoppers to decorate the shelf. The books were coloured in using our watercolour pencils. I did use a sticker but I don’t remember where it’s from. It comes on a roll with several book themed images.
The owl is a book mark, you can see how this is made in this video.
2025 Reading Log
One of the ways I plan on keeping track of the books I read this year is using this reading log. Although I don’t think it’s going to be big enough lol. I found this on the Everyday Reading website. I printed it on copy paper and trimmed it to fit my journal. As I finish a book I colour it in and then add the title.
Book Tracker Spread
After documenting my books on my reading log, I add it to this tracker. This is where I document the format (audiobook; kindle; hard cover or paper back); the star rating; title; author and print off the book cover. I use a template that I created on Canva to print off the book covers. They are printed on an 8-1/2″ x 11″ label and then trimmed down. Because I can fit so many on a page, I usually print off a bunch at the same time and then add them as I read them.
My goal is to read/listen to 100 books this year so I’ve gone ahead and created the template for all 100 books. So it’s easy to fill in as I go.
Book Club Reads
I recently joined a book club through a local Indie book store (Daisy Chain). Each month I’m sent a book or two. I love that they choose the book for me. So I’ve decided to do a spread for each months book. This was my January spread.
For this spread I stamped the daisies from the cheerful daisies stamp set. The ‘Star Review’ stamp is from Wild Whisper and the alphabet and numbers are from Kerri Bradford Designs.
I received two books in February so created the space to document both of them. I used the Spotlight on Nature stamp set (one of my favs) and stamped in melon mambo and garden green ink. The ‘Book Club’ stamp is from a book themed Heidi Swapp set called Story Update. I haven’t read the February book club books yet. But Arabella is next on my list.
Series Tracker Spread
I’ve really gotten into fantasy series lately and so many of them are part of a series. So I decided to add a series tracker to my book journal. This spread was created at a book journaling night at Daisy Chain so I didn’t have access to all my supplies. I kept it pretty simple with some stickers from Plan It With Stickers.
Monthly Reads Spread
I decided to create a monthly reads spread where I list all the books that I’ve read in a month and document my top pick. Each book is coloured in based on its genre. I plan on adding a tip in to indicate what genre the colours represent. It’ll be fun to see at a quick glance what genre wins out each month.
The books & glasses are stamps from the For the Books set.
I hope you enjoyed these book journal spread ideas!
Until next time,
