For those of you not familiar with Paper Pumpkin kits, they are a subscription kit that get delivered right to you. Inside are all the supplies you need AND directions for assembling the kit cards/projects for that month.
I love to scrapbook using the monthly kits. Shortly after my kit arrived, I shared this layout using the November kit, today I’m sharing another Christmas themed layout.
Let’s take a look…
I had this idea to create a background using the ornaments in the kit but only had 4 ornaments left. So I decided to create my own using the negative space from the die cut ornaments, a blending brush, inks and the stamps that came in the kit.
After creating the designs I wanted I fussy cut each of the ornaments.
The white card stock felt like it needed something so I turned to my favourite technique – the packaging technique. It’s a simple technique that doesn’t require any fancy supplies and makes you feel artsy:) If you aren’t familiar with it, you can find a video explaining it here.
Even after the packaging technique, it still needed something else. So I created a stencil using one of the dies from Tune In dies set – the one that has a similar shape to one of the stamps in the Filled with Joy stamp set. To create the stencil, I used the thinner sheet of plastic that covers the stamp set and die cut the image from the centre. Then used my blending brush and some shaded spruce ink to add a few of those across the center.
The layout was then ready for the ornaments to be added.
To pull in a bit of the poppy parade, I cut off the top band from one of the stockings and cut it into 3/4″ strips. Then pleated it and added it behind one of the photo mats and a scrap piece of one of the tags from the kits.
I finished off the layout by adding a title. The word ‘Christmas’ and the banner were cut using the Peaceful Season dies and the word ‘memories’ is from the Snow Day stamp set.
