Today I’m sharing 3 gift card holders made from scraps of pattern paper. If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know that I’ve challenged myself to complete an entire package of the A Walk in the Park pattern paper. I’m happy to say that after today I pretty much did it. Just small scraps left.
I must say it feels good. Maybe this is a challenge I’ll issue myself with the release of every new catalogue. We’ll see:)
For these projects I pulled out a sheet and 1/2 of card stock, my scraps of A Walk in the Park pattern paper, some white card stock, ribbon and embellishments. Here’s what I created.
Note: there is a video linked towards the bottom of the post that walks you through creating each of these projects including cutting & scoring.
The first two gift card holders were created from one piece of 8-1/2″ x 11″ card stock. This one ends up being a standard sized card and can fit into one of Stampin’ Up!’s medium envelopes.
Measurements:
- Pretty Peacock: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and 9″
- Basic White: 4″ x 5-1/4″ ; 2″ x 3-1/2″ cut with the 2nd smallest scallop contour die
- Pattern Paper: 3-1/4″ x 4″ ; 1-3/4″ x 4″ and 2″ x 4″
- Ribbon: 4″
- Twine: 12″
The second one ends up being a square card. It can still fit into a medium sized envelope or, if you still have an envelope punch board, you can use that to make a square envelope to fit.
Measurements:
- Pretty Peacock: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″
- Basic White: 4″ x 4″; 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ ; 2″ x 3-1/2″ cut with the 2nd smallest rectangle from the scallop contour dies; 4th smallest deckled circle
- Pattern Paper: 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ ; scrap for inside and 2-1/4″ x 4″ cut at an angle
- Ribbon: 8″
- Twine: 12″
- Pearls: x3
And the third idea is a stand along gift card holder with a belly band that just slides off. I think this one is my favourite because it has a surprise little pop up piece that holds the gift card.
Measurements:
- Pretty Peacock: 4″ x 9-5/8″ scored at 1-3/4″ , 4-1/2″ , 5-3/4″ and 7″
- Basic White: 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ , 2″ x 3-1/2″ cut with 2nd smallest rectangle from the scallop contour dies; 3″ x 5″ cut with the 4th and 5th smallest deckled circle dies
- Pattern Paper: 1-3/4″ x 7″ and 1-3/4″ x 1″ cut in 1/2
- Ribbon: 7″
- Twine: 12″
- Pearls: x3
In the video below I created these same gift card holders using the A Walk in the Forest pattern paper.
Here are photos of those ones.
Because I was working from scraps I had to make some modifications to the second one. I’ve included measurements below.
The only variation in measurements is for the patterned paper. Instead of one big piece on the outside, I used two smaller pieces measuring 2-1/2″ x 3-5/8″ and 1-1/4″ x 3-5/8″.
I didn’t have a piece of patterned paper big enough to cover the triangular pocket so I used the scrap triangle card stock that was left and embossed it. It was a great compromise and used up that scrap piece that I likely would have thrown out.
This one looks pretty much the same but the patterned paper and ink colours are a little different.
I hope you enjoyed these 3 gift card holders made from scraps!
Until next time,
