Kits are some of my FAVORITE things. They really make crafting easy
and they often have lots of leftover pieces, which makes them go even
further. Stampin’ Up! has a great monthly kit called Paper Pumpkin. I
love getting the little red box delivered each month. And you know what
the best part is – you never know what the projects will be – who
doesn’t love surprises!
June’s Paper Pumpkin kit included the supplies to make some shaker banners and cards. I decided to use some of the supplies on a scrapbook layout. The first thing I did was create this little shaker panel. The triangular bags, sequins, washi tape, striped paper and gold letters are all from the June Paper Pumpkin kit.
Tip: One of the things I struggled with on this layout was where to position the title. So my friend Tammy suggested placing the letters on a window sheet and then moving it around to see where it looks best. I was too lazy to get a window sheet so I just used my ruler – which served the same purpose. It allowed me to see where it would look best without having to commit.
Also included in each Paper Pumpkin kit is a stamp set and an ink spot or two. So using the June stamp set, I decided to create my own pattern paper.
Tip: You can really use any stamps to create your own patterned paper but these generic circle images were perfect for this layout. And the best thing about creating your own paper is that you can choose colors to match your layout and Stampin’ Up! is the best for having coordinating inks and paper!
While I was creating this layout, I realized I had nowhere to include journaling so I trimmed one of the envelopes included in the June Paper Pumpkin kit and used it as a mat on this photo. I added a bow to the top so that you’d have something to grab and pull out the journaling. It’s the perfect solution and also great if you want to include more private journaling on your layouts.
Again a hodgepodge of products were used on this layout so here’s the run down:
- It’s My Party dsp (retired) – background paper
- In the Wild dsp (retired)
- Maggie Holmes bow
- White bakers twine (#124262)
- Labeler Alphabet stamp set (#141936)
- Fluttering embossing folder (#139304)
- Project Life pens (#135304)
