I love scrapbooking with a card kit and will create a layout with almost every card kit I purchase. The reason I’m drawn to card kits is because they make for such great starting points for layout and the Lots to Love kit was no exception. I was drawn to the colours, texture and dimension in this kit. The texture on some of the card stock and envelopes is amazing – I wish you could feel it.
The kit makes 9 cards – 3 each of 3 designs.
When I open a kit, I start by creating one of each of the cards. This help me get to know the contents of the kit.
Then I pull out one of each of the pieces and dig into my stash for coordinating supplies. Things I look for are:
- coordinating card stock and/or pattern paper,
- embellishments,
- ribbon,
- alphabet dies/stamps and
- stamp sets that might compliment the kit.
The Details
The pattern papers I chose are from three different paper packs, two of which were scraps. It always feels good to use up some of those scrap pieces you have.
I used one of the card front layers as a frame for my photos. It needed to be cut a little larger and I happen to have an oval die that was the same shape. I ended up with an oval shaped frame as well. This worked perfectly for the 2nd photo.
The flowers and leaves were fussy cut from two of the card bases. They worked perfectly as accents for my layout.
To create the title I opened up one of the envelopes and added some ink blending in timid tiger and darling duckling. Then die cut the letters with the alphabet a la mode dies.
The top cluster was created with a piece of a doily, scrap of one of the pattern papers, a couple of the fussy cut leaves, scrap of ribbon and a strawberry slush twine bow. I love how it all layered together.
If you’d like to watch this layout come together, check out the video below.
