Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global January 2023 blog hop. Thank you so much for joining us. This months theme is from a card to a layout which is open to interpretation but I chose to use a card as my inspiration. I can’t wait to see what everyone created!
As part of the Scrapbooking Global design team we participate in a monthly blog hop and challenges but anyone can join in if they’d like. We’d love to have you join us! Be sure to join the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group so you know when the sign up starts for our next hop.
My inspiration for the layout I’m sharing today is the card below. You can find all the details and a video showing you how it comes together in this blog post.
As I was looking through my list of pages that needed to be scrapbooked, I realized that I needed a title page for the second album for 2007. After checking out the sentiments in the Desert Details, I knew this was what I’d create because of the greeting that says ‘Let the fun begin’.
As you can see I used that sentiment on the layout but crossed out the word begin and stamped in continue. To be honest this was a bit of a mistake that I didn’t notice until after the layout was complete. I had meant to just ink up the words ‘Let the fun’ and then stamp ‘continue’. Since this is the second half of the year, I thought this would be the perfect way to introduce the album. However, I forgot to mask off the word begin lol and then didn’t even notice as I stamped the word ‘continue’! Oh well there’s always a creative solution right? Crossing out the word begin was my solution.
The Details…
You can see by looking at the card and the layout that I pretty much replicated the focal point but added in the year and a few more details to fill the space. I will often use cards that I see online as inspiration for a scrapbook layout. There are so many great ideas out there.
- This dsp is my favourite pattern from the Delicate Desert package! It worked perfectly to give the background a bit of detail without being overwhelming.
- I trimmed it down a bit and then added it to a piece of basic black and then that to a piece of pale papaya 12×12.
- I used one of the dies from the Desert Details dies to create a stencil and then added a bit of pattern behind the focal point.
- The year is cut from the Alphabet a la Mode dies and some foam adhesive sheets so that they’d pop up.
- After completing the focal point I felt it still needed something and since I didn’t have any photos to add, I decided to add just a little cluster at the top of the page.
If I were to add photos to this layout, I’d probably add two or three down the right side and then create the cluster off towards the left a bit.
This definitely isn’t the only way that you can use cards as inspiration for your memory keeping and I can’t wait to see everyone else’s interpretation of this theme. Head on over to Cheryl Taylor’s blog to see what she created for the hop.
And if you love this suite of products as much as I do, be sure to check out the details of my upcoming Delicate Desert One Day Crop. There are both in person and to go options. Find all the details here.
