Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global February 2025 blog hop. Thank you so much for joining us. This month we are working with a sketch as our inspiration – my favourite way to start a scrapbook layout!
As part of the Scrapbooking Global design team we participate in a monthly blog hop and challenges but anyone can join in if they’d like. We’d love to have you join us! Be sure to join the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group so you know when the sign up starts for our next hop and for more scrapbooking inspiration!
Here’s a look at the sketch…
There are lots of things that I love about this sketch:
- the wide border of pattern paper
- the splatter in the background
- the stamped script in the background
- the tab
- the positioning of the two little clusters
These are the things I wanted to include on my layout. There really isn’t much that I changed apart from including three photos instead of two.
The photos I chose are of my daughter training their first puppy in May of 2024. They now have two puppies and she just got offered a job with the training program that she signed up for when they brought Indie home. Our son-in-law brought Indie home from a reserve when she was between 4 and 6 months old. Because she was a stray, a LOT of training was needed. It’s really quite amazing how much she progressed in such a short time.
The Details…
I’ve used bits and pieces from lots of different stamp sets and some leftover pieces from previous workshop kits. At the end of the post I’ve included a full supply list.
- The blue background paper is from the Bloom Impressions DSP which is a Sale-a-Bration offering (free with a qualifying purchase until February 28, 2025). It worked out being the PERFECT match to the photos. I always find blue a tough colour to match but this paper seemed to made for these photos.
- Like the sketch I wanted something in the background on the white. Instead of torn card stock or pattern paper, I went with the packaging technique. If you aren’t familiar with this technique, you can see how it’s done in this video.
- Once that was dry, I did a bit of stamping – the text stamp and splatters are both from the Elements of Text stamp set. The image that looks like a swipe of paint is from the Everyday You & Me stamp set (as are the leaves).
- The chipboard hearts are leftover from the Everyday You & Me workshop kit that I used for last months scrapbook class. I love that I was able to put some of them to use on this layout.
I love a lot of white space on my layouts and didn’t want journaling to take away from that so I used the idea of the tab to create some hidden journaling behind the middle photo.
- The word ‘fantastic’ is from the Everyday Arches stamp set. Because it’s photopolymer, it can be manipulated to stamp straight even though it’s designed to stamp on a curve.
- The title was cut using the Alphabet a la Mode dies which are a Sale-a-Bration offering as well, which is a STEAL of a deal!!! With a qualifying purchase of $75 or more, you can choose these for free! But only until Feb. 28th, 2025.
