Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global August 2022 blog hop. We’ve got a fun Tic Tac Toe challenge for this month.
As part of the Scrapbooking Global design team we participate in a monthly blog hop and challenges but anyone can join in if they’d like. We’d love to have you join us! Be sure to join the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group so you know when the sign up starts for our next hop.
To participate in the challenge simply choose 3 squares in a row (across, up and down or diagonal) and incorporate those three things on your layout.
I chose to do a diagonal line incorporating Kraft card stock; 3 or more photos and bakers twine on my 2-page spread. However, I managed to also complete a second line – polka dots; 3 or more photos and mixed alphabet sets. I love these types of challenges. They get me thinking outside of the box.
I chose to use one of the beautiful patterned papers from the Abigail Rose DSP pack as my accents on my layout. Whenever I get a paper pack, if there is a pattern that would work well as embellishments if cut apart, I will usually spend a bit of time fussy cutting it. It’s something I do while watching TV or waiting for dinner to cook. I find it relaxing, however I know this isn’t for everyone though lol.
I loved this photo so much that I printed it 8″ x 12″. It’s the first time I’ve scrapbooked a photo of that size – it was fun.
The Details
With a bit of strategic placement you can make 6″ x 6″ paper, like our Kraft card stock, look as though it’s 12″ long. Along the bottom I simply lined up the scallops and as long as you don’t look closely, you can’t notice where the two pieces meet up. The same goes for the narrow strip across the top.
The layout didn’t need much embellishing but I loved the look of the cut flowers tucked in the top. I used all the straight edge pieces that I cut from around the edges of the dsp and saved the full flowers for a different project.
I had a couple more photos that I wanted to include so decided to go with a 6″ x 12″ pocket page. Afterwards I noticed that one of the photos is the same one just printed in black & white. Oh well! It is what it is and the layout is done.
The centre pocket is actually meant for two 3″ x 4″ photos but I wanted to keep it consistent with 4″ x 6″ elements so I simply adhered the Kraft card stock on top of the pockets. This also allowed me to position the flowers so that they overhang onto the bottom photo.
Here’s a look at the 2-pages together. I love how the black background ties in the black & white photos from the right page and the Kraft card stock on the right ties in the photo on the left.
After it was all done, I still felt that it needed a little something so I used a white gel pen to add the little polka dots. It’s a simple thing but I love the look.
