Jordyns Birthday

Happy Monday morning! Hope you all had a great weekend, we certainly did. It was Jordyns birthday on Saturday so we had a weekend full of celebrating, doing the things she loves to do. The kids were off school on Friday during the day so Jordyn and I spent most of the morning making the cake.

As you can see it’s a panda bear cake, she chose a panda because that’s her nickname at school. We found this fabulous video on how to make it here. Ours doesn’t look quite as nice as the one on the video but we were happy and even happier when Jordyn showed her friends and one of them said “Hey my mom’s a professional cake decorator too!” We were very flattered:)

Friday evening was the party. We started off with some tubing, I’m so happy the weather warmed up a bit. Jordyn has wanted to go tubing for her birthday for the last few years but there usually isn’t enough snow. Although it was a little cold, we still had fun.

Afterwards, we all came back, had some pizza and cake. It’s hard to tell from the photo but we put all 12 candles on the bears belly because Jordyn was a bit worried about not being able to blow them all out if we had them spread out too much. The cutest comment of the evening was from one of the girls after Jordyn had blown out the candles – “That bear had a 12 pack and was HOT!” Soooo funny coming from an 11 year old girl. That one is definitely going in the album!

The girls decided to go forkless and eat their cake without their hands. They laughed so hard, what they didn’t know was that the black icing leaves a purple stain so a few of the girls left with purple faces!

The rest of the weekend was filled with lots of hockey – Jordyn loves hockey and got a new stick for her birthday so it got quite a workout. Dinner at Grandma and Grandpas on Saturday, more hockey on Sunday and then finished off the weekend with the last regular indoor season soccer game with a win.

She said this was her best birthday yet! I’m looking forward to what this year brings for her. She is growing into such a wonderful girl and I’m so proud of what she’s becoming! Love her to pieces.
