Welcome to the December 2022 Ink & Share scrapbook blog hop. I’m excited to join in on this blog hop and can’t wait to see what everyone creates.
This months theme is a hidden message. The first thing I did was check my list of scrapbook layouts that still need to be created to see if anything jumped out at me. I realized I had the PERFECT topic for a hidden message – a letter to Santa that my daughter had written years ago.
Next up came deciding on the product I was going to use. Products from the Santa Express suite seemed like an obvious choice. I had already used this suite to create this years holiday album so there were slim pickings left.
The products in this suite are all retiring and are only available while supplies last.
- Santa Express Memories & More Cards (159595) Reg. $16.50 Sale $8.25
- Santa Express DSP (159582) Reg. $16.50 Sale $9.90
- Santa Express Memories & More Cards & Envelopes (SOLD OUT) but you could use only envelope, or even create your own
The Background…
For the background I did the packaging technique with some petal pink ink. If you are unfamiliar with this technique, you can find a video showing you how to do it here. After the background was dry, I stamped the outline word ‘believe’ from the Jingle, Jingle, Jingle stamp set (also retiring), in petal pink. Then a few of the outline stars with some mint macaron ink.
I decided that one of the envelopes from the Santa Express Memories & More cards & envelopes would be the perfect spot to tuck in the letter to Santa. One of the 3″ x 4″ cards in the Memories & More cards has a Santa on it. So I fussy cut the Santa and added it to an oval cut with the Framed Floret dies. The oval tucks in behind the word ‘believe’ on the envelope to hold it closed.
To create the title, I used the Alphabest stamp set from the annual catalogue and a new die set called Alphabet a la Mode (available Jan. 5th). The string of lights is one of the stamps in the Jingle, Jingle, Jingle stamp set. I coloured in the bulbs with shaded spruce and poppy parade Stampin’ Blends. Then added a bit of Wink of Stella for a bit of bling.
In this last photo you can see how it opens up to reveal the letter.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Head on over to Cheryl Taylors blog to see what she created.
Until next time,
