Today I’ve got a from card sketch to scrapbook layout post for you. I love that Stampin’ Up! has started including sketches in their publications. If you check page 12 of the 2025 January to April mini catalogue, there are 22 sketches to inspire you. Some of the sketches are card sketches some for tags. But don’t limit yourself to using them for those purposes.
Check out how this card sketch inspired today’s scrapbook layout.
Let’s take a look…
I took the sketch and rotated it , I kept the layers but instead of a circle in the middle, I used a square. The photo is a sweet photo my daughter managed to snap of her puppy when they were on holidays last summer. It’s such an adorable photo I knew I wanted to scrapbook it.
I have to admit I had a hard time picking pattern papers for it. I ended up going with a woodgrain from the country woods dsp and then a subtle pattern from the country lace paper packs. My embellishments were created using the Terrific Toadstools bundle.
To add a bit of texture to the layout I stamped a couple of the images from the Elements of Text stamp set. This is such a great for adding a little something to the back of ANY project.
Another thing I love to add to my layouts is little tuck ins. Sometimes I use scraps of pattern paper or stamped images. This time I went with a couple different shaped dies cut with the Greetings of the Season. I cut each of them in half. The tag portion is on the right and the other half on the left.
As you can see, it’s not difficult to take a card sketch and use it to inspire a scrapbook layout. I encourage you to give it a try!
Until next time,
