For this weeks memory keeping Monday post, I wanted to talk a little about doodling on a scrapbook layout. Is this something you do? I seem to be going through a phase where I do it a lot.
There are several ways that you can doodle on a layout. Here are a few ideas:
- draw actual images onto your layout
- freehand draw lines around your pieces of card stock or pattern paper
- draw around the images on your pattern paper
- add dots, or other design, on your page
- draw and colour, or paint, your own pattern paper
- hand letter your titles
- add fun speech bubbles for your journaling
And doodling doesn’t have to just be done using a black marker. Maybe you want to use coloured markers, paint markers or paint. Your scrapbook layouts can be so much more than just a place to document your memories. Use them to express your creativity!
Let’s take a look at this weeks layout
I’ve got to admit this layout doesn’t have a lot of doodling on it but definitely more than I normally do.
There’s one particular pattern paper in the Celebratory Sips paper pack that just seemed to scream that it needed to be doodled on. So I used my black Sharpie Pen (my favourite journaling pen) and doodled around each of the rectangles. This gives them a bit of added definition.
I also added some doodling around the edges of the yellow card stock and added a few little dots around the circles. It’s amazing how much you can add to a project by simply using a black marker!
This layout is way outside my comfort zone with the daffodil background! Most of my layouts use white as the background but I felt that this one needed a bit more colour. I have an idea for photos to add to this layout but I have to wait until it happens and I take the photos.
The Celebratory Sips DSP is from the upcoming online exclusives product release (May 6th, 2025). That’s where the pattern paper came from and the drinks were fussy cut from another paper from the same pack. The rest of the supplies that I used are linked below.
Until next time,
