Todays scrapbooking tip is all about craft room organization. A well organized craft room can make it easy for you to find what you need and save you time.
My biggest piece of advice is to organize your supplies so that all like items are kept together. For example all patterned paper can be stored together, all ink pads, punches, stamps, dies etc. That way if you are looking for something, you only have to look in one spot! Within each of those categories you can they break it down and organize by theme, season or occasion, however you think would work best for you.
I have found that after having something in place for a little while, you may find it’s not working for you. It’s ok to change your mind. I’ve gone through several different ways to organize before I found what works best for me. The way I have things set up now, seems to be the most effective so far but there’s always room for improvement.
A well organized craft area (room, closet, desk – whatever) leads to a very productive scrapbooking session. When I craft I have two rules to help keep things in order and running smoothly.
Two Rules
- Finish what I start – no more unfinished projects have gotten added to my unfinished project bin since this rule was put into place!
- Clean up after every project. I make a point of cleaning up after every layout, card or craft project. Everything goes back to its home so that it can be found when I need it again.
Since establishing these two rules I have been so much more productive. Projects are getting completed and my studio is rarely a disaster. I say rarely because there are still times when I’m preparing for a large event that it looks like a bomb went off in here lol.
If you’d like a tour of my studio, I filmed a video about a year ago. In it I share how I store most of my supplies. Keep in mind that I am a full time crafter and have been blessed with a big space to work in. However, maybe there’s an idea or two you can integrate into your space.
Todays layout inspiration…
I thought it was fitting to do a live layout since todays scrapbooking tip is to organize your products so that like items are together. I have most of my supplies at an arms length reach from where I normally craft and where I film my videos. If you watch the replay you’ll see that I can easily reach for anything that I need.
I’m so thrilled with how this scrapbook layout came out. This is the first time I’ve ever scrapbooked live. I think it went ok. You can check it out yourself, the replay is below.
Have a creative day,
