Good morning and Happy New Year!
Today I have a cute card I created using Stampin’ Up!’s Choose Happiness stamp set to share with you. It’s a simple card but really it’s all about the background. I used ink to create a Bokeh background. If you aren’t familiar with the term Bokeh, it’s a photography technique used to blur part of the background. It looks really neat and something I’m going to have to play around with on my camera because the effect is awesome.
I found several different ways to create this type of look when I was researching it but I went with what I thought would be the easiest. To create this look on paper:
- Sponge cardstock with coordinating ink colors (or various shades in the same color). I used coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe and pear pizzazz in the sample.
- Create a template of various sized circles from a window sheet. I used 1-1/2″, 1″ and 5/8″ circles – all from the circle framelits collection.
- Using white craft ink, sponge a variety of circles over top of the sponged cardstock. I started with the largest circle and worked my way down. To avoid smudging, you will have to let dry between. You could emboss the circles with clear embossing powder but I was looking for a soft muted effect so chose not to. It took longer because I had to wait for the white ink to dry in between.
I didn’t end up adding too many circles (because I got tired of sponging:}) but it looks great with lots of sponged circles.
Thanks for making my blog a part of your day! Wishing you a creative 2015!
