I’ve got an art journal spread to share with you today. This is something I’ve decided to do whenever I’m feeling like getting creative but don’t want to make cards or scrapbook.
I’ve decided that this is the perfect way to play, use up scraps and not think about what I use or even create. I bought a mixed media coil bound pad to use for this creative journey.
This is the first layout I did in my journal. It uses leftover scallop pieces from this layout and a few other scraps from my desk. Here’s the process for anyone who may be interested.
- Packaging technique with pool party ink in the background
- Stamped the words and splatters with pool party in the background
- Stamped the beautiful large floral image from the Wonderful World stamp set using Bermuda Bay
- Then I added a die cut vellum circle, a leaf cut from the Sunflowers Dies and a fussy cut flower.
- I finished it off with a saying from a Tim Holtz small talk book, a bakers twine bow and some sequins.
This was so fun to create and probably only took me about 15 minutes max because most of the pieces were just leftovers from previous projects. What a great way to use up those bits and pieces. I’ve already pulled together a collection for my next layout!
If you love to get crafty, I encourage you to give this a try! If you don’t think an art journal is for you, you could always recreate this as a card or even a scrapbook layout!
Until next time,
