Today I’m sharing a couple of the art journal pages I’ve created so far this year. This is an ongoing project that I working on throughout 2026. I started this book a few years ago but it didn’t last long. This year will be a bit different because I’m combining it with another challenge called the Full Deck Challenge led by Shanouki Art.
This challenge is a weekly challenge where you choose your prompts from a weekly list and alter a playing card. Because there are 52 weeks, by the end of the year, you’ll have altered an entire deck. However, I’ve decided to do the challenge in my art journal instead.
Week One
For week one the prompts we could choose from were:
- Green
- Squares
- Butterfly
- Numbers
- Bird
- Bright Pink
- Hole Punch
- Red
I went with green and butterflies and used scraps that were left on my desk and a technique I taught at a class I had last weekend. The focal point was fussy cut from a pattern paper pack from the Brushed with Beauty DSP and the butterfly and grid stamps are from the Heirloom arrangements stamp set. I love the texture the cheesecloth adds.
Week Two
For week two, took inspiration from some bits & pieces from my desk. I love how it all came together. The background was stamped with crumb cake ink using a Studio Light Grunge stamp and that same grid stamp from the week one layer.
For the focal point, I stamped the large floral image from the Beautiful Gallery stamp set, using early espresso ink. The leaves and gold foil sprig were cut from the Beautiful Gallery dies.
The dsp was a 6×6 piece from my stash. I ended up using it for this project and then finished off another chunk for a card I’ll be sharing next week.
The challenge prompts for this week were:
- Bird
- Fibers
- Gold
- Stencil with Texture Paste
- Black Splatter
- Butterfly
- Orange
I ended up using bird (the dsp has birds on it), gold and butterfly.
I’m really loving this challenge. It’s the perfect way to get a bit creative with the scraps I have left on my desk. And I’m excited to fill this book and do a flip through of all the inspiration once it’s done.
Until next time,
Supply List

Hi Sherry! I just love the non card projects you’re including in your blog. They are so unique, and even inspire my card making.
Thanks so much for all your inspiration.
Sue
I’m so glad you are enjoying them! It’s been fun playing around with my supplies to create something other than cards.
