Easy Telescoping Mini Album

In this post I’m sharing how to make an easy telescoping mini album. These little albums are perfect projects to use as gift ideas, to document a special trip, occasion or the holidays. The best part is you can use anything from your stash to create and embellish your album.

Here’s what you’ll need for the album base:

• Card Stock in the sizes listed below. You can use all one colour or switch it up. I used white in the sample I’m sharing in this post. However, in my video I share one done using green card stock as the base.
  • 12″ x 6″ scored at 6″
  • 11″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 5-1/2″
  • 10″ x 5″ scored at 5″
  • 9″ x 4-1/2″ scored at 4-1/2″
  • 8″ x 4″ scored at 4″
  • 7″ x 3-1/2″ scored at 3-1/2″
  • 6″ x 3″ scored at 3″
  • 5″ x 2-1/2″ scored at 2-1/2″
• Pattern Paper: these can be single sided or double sided. It helps if they all coordinate.
  • 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″
  • 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • 4-3/4″ x 4-3/4″
  • 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
  • 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″
  • 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″
  • 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″
  • 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″

Decorating Your Album

This is where the fun comes in. You can use anything – ephemera, a scrapbooking workshop kit, stamps, stickers – anything goes. For this album I used leftover pieces from the Keeping Traditions Scrapbooking Workshop Kit, some coordinating DSP and some stamps.

Get creative and just have fun. For example – I used some sequins to create the tree shown above.

And stamps to spruce this one up a bit.

Scraps of pattern paper also work well. I always say – never throw anything away until you are completely done with a collection of products. You never know when those little bits will come in handy.

Create additional space for photos by adding inserts.

• Old Olive: 4″ x 4″
• Secret Sea: 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
• DSP: 4″ x 4″; 5-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ for pocket; 4-1/4″ x 1″ for strip across and scraps
