Today I’m sharing 2 great card ideas using scraps of pattern paper. These card designs can easily be used over and over by simply changing out the pattern paper, stamps and dies for a completely different look.
Birthday Wishes Card
The first card uses smaller pieces of pattern paper – just 1-1/2″ squares. Although I cut the squares all from the same piece of pattern paper, you could use coordinating pieces for added interest. Another simple modification could be to use some pattern paper and some embossed, or stamped card stock pieces. Or you could change the size of the square – make it smaller or larger.
Measurements:
- Large Card Base from the Memories & More Cards & Envelopes
- Melon Mambo: 3-3/4” x 5-3/4”
- Basic White: 3-1/2” x 4-1/4” (for stamping) and 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” for die cutting
- Full of Life DSP: 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” (x7)
- Iridescent ½” Striped Trim: 4”
- White Twine: 8”
Instructions
- Using your paper snips, distress around the edges of the melon mambo card stock.
- Distress around the edges of all the dsp squares and add them to the melon mambo cardstock in the pattern shown in photo above. Trim off excess.
- Add melon mambo panel to the card front.
- Die cut the detailed heart image from the smaller white card stock. Use this as a stencil with the melon mambo and pumpkin pie inks and blending brushes to create the heart pattern on the larger piece of white card stock.
- Die cut the heart using the finer heart die. Trim the tip where it remains attached. Add this to the center of the card front using dimensionals.
- Trim the ribbon in ½ lengthwise. Fold and attach to the card front.
- Tie a bow with the baker’s twine and add it to the card front using a mini glue dot.
- Stamp ‘birthday’ and ‘wishes’ using memento ink and fussy cut. Add to the card front using dimensionals.
- Add three iridescent faceted gems.
So Excited for You Card
This three strip design is one I use often. There are so many ways that you can alter this one to give it a different look. Cut your strips longer than the 3″, or narrower than the 1-1/2″. Add more strips. Change out the patterns instead of making them all the same pattern. You could create a portrait card instead of landscape and keep the measurements the same. So many options!
