Wow! What a trip we had! I have so many photos and details that I could share with you but will just do a short recap of our trip.
It had a bit of a rocky start but once we arrived it was fabulous! Here are a few of my favorite photos from our time away.
Although we never intended to spend any time in Bangkok, because of some
complications with the first part of our trip we ended up being in
Bangkok for almost two days. So we got to see and experience some great
things.
We did a long boat tour and one of the stops was a floating market. This lady is preparing the food for the little restaurant to her right! Everything she needs is on that boat or just off to her right. It was so interesting to watch!
Thailand has some very exotic fruit that we don’t often find at home and the pineapple in Bangkok was some of the BEST pineapple I’ve ever had. So sweet and juicy. Mmmm so good. But we also tried Rambutan (the hairy looking one), Mangosteen (the dark, round one) and dragon fruit. Although I’ve seen dragon fruit in the grocery stores here at home, I don’t think I’ve ever tried it.
Our resort in Phuket was absolutely gorgeous! It didn’t matter where you were standing, the view was stunning in every direction!
About a 15 minute walk down the beach was a great local restaurant where you could eat right on the beach. This was our view at dinner. Gorgeous!
One of my friends recommended that we try Thai Pancakes and oh my word, I’m so glad we did. They were delicious.
One of our excursions, thanks to Stampin’ Up! was a trip to Phang Nga Bay. It started with a speed boat, then we went on a canoe and through a little cave. The views were stunning. Then back onto the speed boat and off to visit a local village – Ko Panyi.
This is a photo of their grocery store. And the local tailor.
It sure makes you appreciate what we have here at home!
Most of the structures (homes and businesses) were on these stilts. It kind of makes me wonder what it’s like when the weather is nasty.
After leaving the village, we went by James Bond Island which is where part of the film The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed. Then off to a beach for a catered lunch.
I’m not super adventurous when it comes to food so my plate looks pretty bland but there was lots of variety!
Before we left we had been following the weather in Phuket. It didn’t look good. July is part of their rainy season and all we saw was rain and very little sunshine. But we lucked out. We did have rain everyday but for the most part it was short lived. And we were quite thankful for the cloudy skies because that meant the sun wasn’t beating down on us and making it even hotter than it was.
The last two days we did get a bit more rain. And ended up at a beach restaurant for a lot longer than anticipated because of the storm that blew in.
Our final event was a dinner catered by the Blue Elephant restaurant. They had entertainment, delicious food and drinks and local artisans creating and selling their artworks. It was such a lovely way to end the trip!
Stampin’ Up! really does spoil us on these trips. I can’t even imagine all the work that goes into these events! But I certainly do appreciate them! I could go on and on talking about the gifts that SU gave us, the treats in the hospitality room and so on but I think I’ll stop for now. Hope you enjoyed the little peak into our Thailand trip!
Have a creative day!
Sherry
