For this weeks memory keeping project, I’m sharing a simple background technique. The post actually includes 2 background ideas:) This is also my final project featuring this months Memorable Meadows Paper Pumpkin kit.
To begin with let’s take a look at the layout. This is another layout for my 6 x 8 album and includes both a 4×8 layout and a 6×8 layout. I love mixing up my sizes. However, both ideas that I share can be used for any size – and even for card making!
The Details…
To create the left hand page I took one of the card fronts from the Paper Pumpkin kit and cut it up using the hexagon die from the Something Fancy Dies. This is what it looked like when I was finished. There wasn’t much left lol.
Then I positioned the pieces onto my 4″ x 8″ layer and filled it in with a few hexagons that were embossed using the crosshatch Basics 3D embossing folder. Because there were some significant gaps I decided to use a Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Write Marker to draw in a few of the hexagons as well. This filled it out nicely.
This idea could be used with any of our scenic pattern papers. I used this same idea on this layout.
For the right hand page I used the negative space from the wood elements we received in the kit and my Take Your Pick tool to create a fun leaf pattern on the background.
This same idea could be done using a die or die cut piece. With that in mind just think of the possibilities! Here’s a closer look.
I hope you enjoyed this weeks memory keeping post. If you are looking for more creative ideas, be sure to check out the upcoming National Scrapbooking Day Virtual Retreat where we’ll be sharing a few other tips & tricks to make fun layouts.
Until next time,
