I am someone who loves to use stuff up. Getting LOTS of use out of my supplies, especially my consumables gives me such a sense of accomplishment. It’s almost as good as finishing a project! Please tell me I’m not alone on this:|
Earlier this year I challenged myself to finish what I started – whether it’s a project I’ve started or a package of paper or embellishment that I’ve opened. Things have been going pretty well. Although, I must admit as we near the end of this catalogue and I look at all the dsp I have left, I have come to realize that I will ever use it all up. But I’m working my way through it and I’ve done a better job this year than any other year so I’m going to say that’s a win! Little victories matter too, right?
The other day I saw a stack, 17 to be specific, of the Tutti Frutti cards and envelopes sitting in my basket. I had used all the green ones and a few others for a class in March but the rest of the two opened packages were calling to be used. These are the ones that were available for free during Sale-a-Bration earlier this year. They make for such quick, pretty cards.
So the first thing I did was look ahead to the type of cards I would need for May. I knew I would need a bunch of congrats cards and a few birthday cards. To simplify, I wanted the design and colors to work with all three card base colors and for both occasions. So I challenged myself to come up with a design I could use on all of them.
I had a pile of new stamp sets sitting on my counter and thought it would be nice to mix in a little bit of new product. I ended up choosing the Love What You Do stamp set and one of the greetings from the Detailed with Love stamp set. The ‘Let’s Celebrate’ really leaves the card open to anything that needs to be celebrated so it was perfect for what I needed.
I love this floral image from the Love What You Do stamp set (available as part of the early release bundles). The image is colored using our watercolor pencils and blender pens. I think the part that took the longest was fussy cutting all the flowers. But fussy cutting doesn’t bother me, I find it relaxing.
It’s hard to tell but I also added a few of the Glitter and Clear Epoxy Shapes – again trying to use them up before they retire. These little shapes are perfect when you want to add just a subtle little something to your project.
I love it when a plan comes together and it serves more than one purpose!
Have a creative day!
Sherry
