Welcome to day 2 of our daily scrapbooking tips. Scrapbooking Tip #2 is an important one and probably one of the hardest – print your photos. Unless you are a digital scrapbooker, printing your photos is an important part of scrapbooking!
In todays day and age of technology we have access to cameras on our cell phones. We actually take more photos today than we ever have. BUT we hardly ever print those photos. What will we have to show our grandkids or their grandkids when they ask to see photos of their parents?
I came across this great article by a photographer, Mike Yost, who puts this into words beautifully. It’s definitely worth reading and one of the reasons I am so passionate about scrapbooking and telling our stories.
We have the capabilities to take some AMAZING photos today. Why wouldn’t you want to print those and share them – whether it’s by way of memory keeping, a regular photo album or even hanging those photos on your wall.
I try to print my photos every month or two so that it doesn’t end up being such a big job. Normally I print at home using either my Epson PM300 printer or my Selphy printer. But when I have a big batch I will print them through London Drugs. Costco or Wal-Mart are also great options.
My project for today is a 2-page spread from my 2019 family album. The photos are from one of our dinners at my parents place. It was a beautiful summer day, the kids were playing outside, Dad was BBQing and we had a fabulous meal. When they cook for company they cook as though they are feeding an army. There’s always so much food – so much so that we always bring home leftovers that will feed us at least another meal and sometimes 2 or 3!
I want to remember these moments and I want my kids to remember. There are so many things from my childhood I have forgotten. There are some photos around, but not many. I don’t remember the little things, in fact if I’m honest, I don’t remember some of the big things.
I encourage you – send some photos off to be printed and then put them out and watch your families expressions as they look through them. You won’t regret it!
Have a creative day!
