Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global September 2019 Blog Hop! Our theme this month is What Little Boys are Made of and I’m honoured to be the guest designer!
If you are a scrapbooker, or would like to start, or get back into scrapbooking be sure to check out the Scrapbooking Global Stampin’ Up! Facebook group.
I chose the theme ‘what little boys are made of” for a few reasons.
- Because I love scrapbooking photos of my little boy (who isn’t so little anymore)
- Because there isn’t enough inspiration out there for boys. We see so many layouts with flowers, butterflies but not enough more masculine layouts.
- I wanted to see a whole blog hop dedicated to little boys!
My intention for this theme was to go in a completely different direction than I ended up going in. But a few weeks ago I came across these photos while looking for something else and just had to use them.
These photos were taken back in 2008 when we surprised the kids with a trip to Disney Land. I’m so glad I snapped these photos they are just so precious. So I thought it would be fitting to use some song lyrics (My Wish by Rascal Flats) as my journaling.
I really wanted to combine annual and holiday catalogue items so out came my stitched stars dies. To create a subtle background I used them as a template and did some paper piercing. It’s just enough to add a soft touch but not be too overwhelming.
Then from the annual catalogue I pulled the Come Sail Away dsp and the braided trim.
Thanks so much for hopping along, be sure to check out the other blogs for more little boy layouts. Click the next button to take you to see what Stasia Sloma created for the hop.

Have a creative day!

Sherry, I am so appreciative that you recognize that boys are not considered enough in the card and scrapbook world. If we want to raise men who are kindhearted and thoughtful, we need to model that behavior for them. The men in my life (my father, brother, father in-law, son, and husband all appreciate the cards that I make for them. I think it gives a powerful and positive message that you are thought about, loved, and appreciated just for you.
Here’s hoping that designers recognize this and start to create more masculine product for the wonderful men in our lives!
We could definitely use more masculine products in this industry! But until that happens we just have to get creative with what we do have:)
Lovely page Sherry! There are some wonderful “hidden” details like the pierced stars and braided Braided Linen Trim.
Thank you Sara!
Beautiful layout! Love the stars and the song lyrics!
Thanks so much Lisa.
Your page is just lovely. I love the attention to detail with the pierced stars on the background.
Thank you Beth!
I totally agree with you Sherry there is NOT enough emphasis on masculine layouts… I personally struggle to create boy/male related layouts as I feel like there is never enough related products… BUT you just proved me wrong…So many design elements on this layout that scream male that I forget that are in my stash…I love the words from the song, words are so powerful <3 Thank you for being our very last Guest Designer for our Blog Hop, it was a pleasure having you create beautiful designs each month that you hopped along with us <3
Cheers Shaz
