In today’s post I thought I’d share a bit of a retreat weekend recap. A couple weekends ago I held my fall retreat out in Vegreville and oh what fun we had. We went out there for an extra day this time around, which meant 5 days of crafting!
I do these Vegreville retreats twice a year (spring & fall). Having dedicated crafting time where you don’t have the distractions of home is so wonderful! But it’s not just about the crafting… it’s about the friendships, the inspiration, the food, naps and time away from everyday life.
There are always goodie bags and little treats throughout the weekend. This is one of the little packages that was waiting for attendees when they arrived.
This year a few of us went out to the Bruce Hotel for dinner on the Saturday to enjoy their steak and shrimp buffet. So good!
While out there you can do whatever you’d like. You can stay in your pjs all weekend, spend time reading, watching Netflix, napping – there are no rules:) The venue is out in the middle of farmland in the prairies. There are a few of us who head out for daily walks.
The venue is nice and bright and because we keep it to a smaller group, we have lots of space to spread out.
Why attend a crop?
Attending a crop can be a fantastic experience for several reasons:
- Creativity Boost: Being surrounded by other crafty individuals can inspire new ideas and techniques for your projects.
- Dedicated Time: A crop provides a focused environment where you can dedicate uninterrupted time to your crafting.
- Community: It’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, share tips, and build friendships with fellow crafters.
- Access to Resources: Many crops offer workshops, supplies, and tools that you might not have at home.
- Fun Atmosphere: The lively, supportive atmosphere makes crafting more enjoyable, often with snacks, music, and laughter.
- Skill Development: There’s often an opportunity to learn from, and be inspired, by others.
- Personal Accomplishment: Completing projects during a crop can give you a sense of achievement and progress.
Overall, it’s a blend of creativity, community, and fun! If you’d like more information on my Vegreville retreats, don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d be happy to send you some info.
I know that not everyone can escape for an entire weekend so I do offer a two day local retreat as well. The next one will be January 4th & 5th, 2025 at the Strathcona County Art Society in Sherwood Park. You can find all the details here.
Until next time,
