Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Years! Ours was great – lots of family time – movies, game nights and eating! Why are so many holidays centered around food?! Anyway, now that January is here and the kids are back at school, we are back to our crazy schedule, but I have my days back, which means more regular posts.
Over the holidays I did get a bit of time to prep my 2016 Project Life album and did some catch up for 2015. Last years album isn’t quite finished but almost there. I have the last couple weeks of December to document, finish up our Hawaii photos and then the odd page here and there throughout the year. Really going to make it a priority to finish up soon!
Today I thought I’d share how I set up my 2016 album and my plans on how I’m going to keep up this year. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I document by month not weekly. I’ve been starting each month with a calendar page and I’ve done that again this year.
These pages are from the Documented Life line from Simple Stories. I hand wrote in all the numbers, instead of stamping or using stickers. This made things go really quickly. After documenting everyday life for the last few years, I’ve learned the key to keeping up, really is simplicity. Anything you can do in small chunks of time really helps. With this in mind, I plan on printing my photos every second Friday, I have it written in my planner so that I don’t forget. If it gets done every two weeks, I won’t get too far behind and it won’t take as long as printing months worth of photos!
You can see from the photo that I also have a smaller calendar card. This was part of the December 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit. It was meant as a desk calendar. The cards are 4×6 so they fit perfectly in a 4×6 pocket. I decorated the cards – some vertical and some horizontal and tucked them into a pocket page. I likely won’t use them opposite the calendar but later on in the month to highlight the week or day that I’m documenting. I must say that I love using my Paper Pumpkin kits in my Project Life album, I often use left over supplies and the stamps to dress up my cards and/or photos.
I filmed a short video flip through of our album if you want to have a closer look. I apologize in advance for the shadows, I need to remember to turn on my lamp if I film there!
