Today I’m sharing this Poised Peony birthday card that I created for this weeks Global Design Project challenge. The challenge was to case the designer – Sue Mohr. You can see Sue’s stunning card below.
For anyone who may not know ‘case’ means to ‘copy and selectively edit’. Which means your are basically taking inspiration from the card but then using whatever you want to create something similar.
One of the things I love about Sue’s card, apart from the product she used, is how the leaves frame the greeting. So I decided to go with that design element. The Poised Peony stamp set was sitting on my desk after planning this class and I thought it would work beautifully.
There was a LOT of fussy cutting on this card because there aren’t any coordinating dies. However, in the end I think it was worthwhile.
There is one of the largest flowers, 5 of the middle size and 3 of the smallest flower on this card. Three of the middle sized flowers were stamped right on the layer of white and the rest were fussy cut. All the flowers were coloured the same way – using Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.
Tucking in a few leaves and sprigs (from the Changing Leaves dies) really filled in the frame nicely.
To finish off the card, I added a few trios of dots using my black Stampin’ Write marker, some pearls and a baker’s twine bow. I love how it all came together and know exactly who’s going to get this card for her birthday:)
Until next time,
