I’m kicking off another series today with my patterned paper ideas – part 1 post. As paper crafters we always have LOTS of patterned paper in our stash. Over the course of the month, I hope to share lots of ideas on how you can put that paper to use!
I think we often forget that anything you can do with card stock, you can also do with patterned paper. Because patterned paper already has a design to it, we tend not to do too much to it other than die cut it or tear it. At least that the case for me. For this first sample, I’ve embossed the layer of patterned paper using the Twisted Rope embossing folder, distressed the edges using my paper snips and splattered it with a bit of Wink of Stella. I don’t remember the last time I embossed a piece of patterned paper!
For this second card, I embossed the layer of patterned paper and then took some pebbled path ink and gently rubbed it across the top to distress it and to put a bit more emphasis on the embossed portion. The Happy Birthday was cut using the Wanted to Say Dies.
Using Patterned Paper Scraps
This last idea is a great one to use up the scraps of patterned paper we all have lots of. I added a piece of adhesive sheets to come copy paper and then added 1/2″ strips of dsp to it. After the whole surface was covered, I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss using the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies.
To see how it all comes together, check out the video below.
