Moving on down my list of MDS to do’s… The next on the list was a calendar to replace the one we are using now. We are currently using a 24″x36″ write on/wipe off type calendar that is stuck to our back door (just off the kitchen) with magnets. In our new house, we won’t have anywhere to put a calendar that size so I decided to turn to MDS to create something large enough to work. We need a calendar with the largest possible squares because it is where our entire family keeps track of what’s going on – and there is always LOTS going on!
So I used the custom size option in MDS – did you know that you can create a project up to 24″x24″! So I went with 24″x20″ – so that it would fit into a frame that I will be using from another project. The calendar feature in MDS created the calendar for me so I didn’t have to worry about lining everything up – I selected a month with 5 weeks, changed the colour, font and sizing and it did it all for me easily. Then I went in and added the ‘Next Month’ column, which is a feature that is on the one we are using right now.
Once I was happy with it I had it printed locally and then trimmed it slightly and added it to the frame.
Also included (on the outside of the glass) is a list of often used numbers – emergency, family & friends, and a post it pad to jot down notes. The only thing I forgot to do before printing, was to remove the numbers to make it perpetual! I couldn’t believe I did that – but there is always an easy solution. I simply took the little square punch from the Little Labels Punch Pack (126881) and covered over the numbers before putting the calendar behind the class. When we go to add the numbers each month, we will just write on the red square. Simple solution for a silly mistake!
I am so happy with the way it turned out. I love how easy MDS makes all these little projects on my to do list:)
Have a great day!
