Welcome to the April 2022 Ink & Share blog hop. I’m excited to join in on this blog hop for the first time and can’t wait to see what everyones layout.
This months theme for our layouts was ‘selfie’. I didn’t have any selfies of my own that hadn’t already been scrapbooked so I decided to cheat a little and use a selfie that my daughter sent me after she got her wedding makeup trial done.
I used a combination of current, to be released, retiring and retired products on this layout lol. It’s a hodgepodge of things but I love how it turned out!
The Background
The background was created by first tracing around a paper plate with a black Stampin’ Write Marker. Then I freehand drew several more layers of the circle. I was looking for a more casual, whimsical feel rather than a perfect circle. Once that was fully dry I used my blending brush and some coastal cabana ink and filled the circle and a bit outside the circle with a bit of subtle colour. The final step to the background was to add some splatters with old olive and coastal cabana.
The Embellishment Clusters
The embellishment clusters were done using a new bundle that will be available beginning May 3rd, called Nature’s Prints. I stamped a couple of the images on the background, in behind where my photo mat was going to be placed. Then stamped a few images and die cut them.
To put a bit more emphasis on the photo I layered some scraps of the Flowering Fields DSP behind the photo. I think the pop of poppy parade dsp (and ink) really adds a nice pop of colour to the layout.
One of my favourite things to do on a layout is combining a variety of fonts, dies and stamps to create a title. For the title on this layout I combined the Playful Alphabet dies (soon retiring), an alphabet set and a greeting from the Love & Happiness stamp set. To finish off the layouts I used some retired matte dots that I had leftover from the July to December mini catalogue.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to head over to Dorothea’s blog to check out her selfie layout.
And then hop along to see the rest of the participants’ layouts.

You did a great job staging this special photo. I like the circle wiped background. By the way, I admire that you drew that big circle by hand. I always need a template for this. Thank you for showing me. Yours Doro
Thanks so much Dorothea!
