In today’s blog post I’m sharing how to make a fun bookmark using the Deckled Circles dies. There are so many fun possibilities with this idea. They are so fun to make and personalize based on the recipient.
Here are a few ideas on how they can be used:
- Valentine’s Day treat – healthier than chocolate or candy and easy to mail!
- Gifts for book club members
- Teacher’s gift (or a gift from the teacher to the student)
- Gift for an avid reader
- Add a couple to your reading journal
- Tuck one inside a book if you are giving it as a gift
These can be created using any layering circles dies. Actually they don’t even need to be circles, almost any shape will work. The size can also easily be adjusted, if you’d prefer to make it a bit smaller. This first one measures about 5″ x 5″ open and 5″ x 3-1/2″ closed and works well for a larger book, catalogue or magazine.
The little bit that sticks up makes it easy to quickly find your page.
You can also skip adding the magnet and turn it into a rocking card.
I’ve included the measurements for the 5″ x 5″ bookmark below, photos of a few alternate ideas, a link to a video showing you how to create it towards the bottom of this post and a full supply list.
Measurements:
- Lemon Lime Twist: 5-1/8″ x 5-1/8″ (die cut using the 3rd largest Deckled Circle Die)
- Bee Mine DSP: 5″ x 5″ (die cut using the 4th largest Deckled Circle Die)
- Basic White: 4th smallest Deckled Circle Die; 1-1/2″ x 5″ for stamping
- Vellum: 1-1/2″ x 3″
- Magnets
Here’s another example of the same size but designed to go on the side of the book instead of at the top.
And a couple that are a bit smaller and created using different products.
These two were created for my book journal. I used some pattern paper from Wild Whispers One More Chapter collection, which I don’t think is available anymore. The book stack and bird are from Stampin’ Up!’s Bird’s Eye View stamp set.
I am seriously having too much fun with this idea!
Aren’t these just the cutest peeking out of my book journal?!
Here’s a link to the video showing you how I created them.
Until next time,
