From This to That

I’m starting a new blog feature that I’m calling From This to That. One of the things I love to do is take a project that I’ve received, or seen online, and make it my own. That might mean I use the layout of the card and create one similar using different products. It could mean that I use the card design as inspiration for a layout. Or maybe I take just the focal point idea and add it to a project. It’s so much easier to create if you already have an idea in mind.

So every week on my blog I will share a project that was inspired by another and call it From This to That. I think it will be fun to see where it takes us.

For this first week I’m sharing a card I created using the Mystery Card measurements we used for our Holiday Extravaganza Mystery Card session.

Measurements:

• Pool Party: 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ scored at 3-1/4″
• White: 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 3″ x 3″
• Bumblebee: 3″ x 3″
• Pattern Party DSP: 3″ x 5-1/4″ and 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″
• Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon: 7″
• White Crinkled Ribbon: 7″
• Sequins: x3

I then used this card as my inspiration to create a congratulations card for my team using the Hats Off bundle.

The card follows the same basic layout but is rotated so that it’s landscape instead of portrait. I also simplified it because I knew I’d be making multiples.

Measurements:

• Thick Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ scored at 3-1/4″
• Basic White: 3″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Thanks & Hello embossing folder (this replaces the dsp)
• Pattern Party DSP: 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ and 4″ x 4″ piece for the hat – this replaces the 3″ x 3″ white/bumblebee pieces in the previous project
• Black Glitter for the star
• Blushing Bride scrap for the badge
• Cute Stars Sequins

As you can see by simply changing up the supplies and the orientation of the card, you end up with something completely different. BUT the design time was reduced because I didn’t have to come with the idea from start to finish.
