Good morning! I’m not sure where the week has gone – it seems to have flown by. I haven’t had a chance to download my Founders Circle photos yet but I will share soon – I promise:)
Today I have a card we created at stamp club this month to share with you. Did you know that we learn a new technique at stamp club each month? It’s fun to learn how you can stretch your supplies to create new looks. This particular technique uses the diagonal score plate – when was the last time that was pulled out? I know I hadn’t used mine in awhile so it was nice to dust it off and put it to use:)
To create this Faux Tile Technique:
- Start with a 4″x5-1/4″ piece of vanilla cardstock and stamp desired images. I used the For All Things stamp set (WM 135152/CM 135155) with crushed curry and old olive ink.
- Score the vanilla cardstock diagonally, in both directions, at 2″ intervals.
- Now do the same with a scrap piece of paper and trim out the top triangles – this will be your template.
- Place the template over top of the scored cardstock, lining up the cut out triangles with the score lines. Ink sponge with soft suede and, starting on the scrap paper, rub in a circular motion and slowly move up until you reach the cardstock. Continue sponging until you have a shaded look that gradually lightens. By starting off the cardstock, you get a nice gradual look to the sponging. It also appears much smoother if you go in a circular motion compared to dabbing the sponge.
- Move your template as needed and repeat this process.
- To finish off the card, I added a piece of burlap ribbon cut with the large scallop edgelit (127019) and then a piece of hello honey ribbon.
- I think the rest is pretty straightforward but if you have any questions, let me know.
If you’d like to learn new techniques like this each month, you can join stamp club at any time – whether it’s virtual or in person. Classes are held 3 times each month – usually the second Wednesday and Thursday evening and the same Thursday morning. I’d love to have you join us!
Hope you have a creative weekend!
