Today I’m sharing an easy 6×6 one sheet wonder idea. We’ll be making 6 all occasion cards using two sheets of 6×6 pattern paper. These are simple cards that you can turn to over and over when you want to restock your card supply.
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
- Six thick white card bases (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″)
- Two sheets of 6×6 pattern paper – I’m using one from the Timeless Plaid DSP and a 6×6 piece from the Storybook Moments dsp
- Two 3-3/4″ x 5″ pieces of white card stock embossed with the Cute Crochet EF (or any other EF)
- Die cut elements, stamped images or ephemera pieces to embellish your cards
- Label shapes or frames
- Scrap of white for stamping
- Linen Thread or twine
- Embellishments – I’ll be using iridescent pearls
- Greeting stamps and ink to coordinate
- Paper trimmer, adhesives, bone folder
Cutting the Pattern Paper
You are going to cut your two 6×6 pieces of pattern paper exactly the same way. Begin by cutting both pieces into four 3″ x 3″ squares. Take one of each pattern and cut it down to two 1-1/2″ x 3″ pieces. Take one more of each pattern and cut them down to three 1″ x 3″ pieces.
Before assembling the cards, I’d suggest determining which patterns you want to use for each of the cards and sorting them with the rest of the pieces. That way you won’t end up with multiple patterns that you don’t like together.
You can see how these cards come together in the video linked below.
The Cards
For the first card you’ll use one of the 3″ x 3″ squares, an embossed card stock layer and a die cut circle.
The second card uses a 3″ x 3″ piece and a 1-1/2″ x 3″ piece.
The third card uses a 3″ x 3″ piece and two 1″ x 3″ pieces. I also used the inside piece of one of the frames cut from the Storybook Friends dies.
This card uses a 3″ x 3″ piece of the pattern paper, two 1″ x 3″ pieces and the detailed oval frame from the Storybook Friends dies.
For card number 5, I used one 1-1/2″ x 3″ and two 1″ x 3″ pieces and added a bit of stamping to the inside of the frame. To give the image a similar look to the die cut pieces that I’m using, I coloured the stone wall and bush with watercolour pencils.
The final card uses the last two pieces of pattern paper, the second embossed panel and the smaller die cut circle.
All these cards come together really quickly because I’ve used the die cut pieces from the Storybook Moments paper pack. However, you could use any die cut pieces, stamped images or ephemera that you have on hand. These cards would be great ones to use if you’d like to use some of the leftover pieces in your stash.
