Yesterday was the first day of school… Jordyn was looking forward to it – Eathan was not. So I decided to make them a little treat for when they came home. And of course I used the Build a Banner Kit to create it! Before I show you the project, I’m going to share a couple photos of my kids on their first day:)
This is Jordyn – I can’t believe she’s going into grade 9! I can still remember her first day of kindergarten. Has it really been that long!?
And my sweet boy Eathan – going into grade 5. He lives in sweats so I was surprised when he asked me to pick out his outfit and then he actually wore it! He is so thin, it’s impossible to find pants to fit – especially jeans and then he has to wear a belt that it so tight it. It usually bothers him to he just doesn’t wear them but Jordyn and I have been working on him saying that as he gets older he’s going to have to start wearing something other than sweats and I think it’s working:)
Anyway enough about my kids… on to today’s project.
I took two of the same shape pennants and used the chevron stencil on both of them, then sewed them together to create a pouch. The colors used on Jordyn’s are Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar. I kept the accent pretty simple – an embossed circle, their initial which was done using the stencil and then cut out and then the ‘xoxo’ from the Circle Card Thinlits Die Pack (133480).
And here is Eathan’s – same idea just a different shaped pennant and colors. The colors are Pumpkin Pie, Midnight Muse and Real Red. I tucked these full of little treats (post it notes, chocolate, pencils etc.) and hung them on their bedroom door knobs for when they come home from school. I did them in colors that would match their rooms, hoping that they could reuse them on their closet doors for little odds and ends.
These little pouches would also make great Halloween treat sacks – decorated in orange and black or how about treat bags for a birthday party? So many options… So have I sold you on the Build a Banner Kit yet? If so, head over to my online store and order yours today – #133507.
Thanks for stopping by today!
