In today’s post I’m going to share how you can make a simple change to a card and get a completely different look. You’ll see below that the two cards are the same basic design with one major difference – the shape of the patterned paper.
We often get into the habit of cutting our pattern papers into squares or rectangles. There’s nothing wrong with that, you still end up with beautiful handmade cards when you’re done. However, look at how different your project looks if you make the simple adjustment of cutting the pattern paper into a circle. Such a slight modification for a completely different look.

Measurements:
- Sweet Sorbet CS: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored @ 4-1/4”
- Basic White CS: 4” x 5-1/4” and scrap for greeting
- Lemon Lime Twist: 2-1/2” x 4” for die cutting leaf
- DSP: 5” x 5” cut with the 4th largest Deckled Circle die
- Sweet Sorbet Ribbon: about 6”
- White Twine: 6”
- Rhinestones: x3
Instructions:
- Fold Sweet Sorbet CS on score line to create card base.
- Adhere the die cut circle to the card front, wrapping around the overhang around to the backside of the card base.
- Die cut the leaf from the Gorgeously Made dies, from the lemon lime twist card stock. Add it to the card front.
- Fold ribbon in half and add it to the card front using a mini glue dot.
- Tie a bow from the twine and add it to the ribbon.
- Stamp greeting using memento ink, trim card stock to fit and add it to the card front using dimensionals.
- Add 3 iridescent rhinestones.
I encourage you to give it a try next time you sit down to craft.
