Today I’m going to share how you can get 8 cards from one 12×12 piece of patterned paper. This is a template that you can refer to over and over. By simply switching out the pattern paper and the products you use for your focal points, the cards will look completely different.
I’ll be using products from Stampin’ Up!’s Bee Mine suite but any products will do.
Here’s a base supply list:
- One 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper
- Two 8-1/2″ x 11″ pieces of paper in coordinating colours (I chose 2 colours but you can make them both the same)
- Three thick white card bases (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″)
- One 5-1/4″ x 10-1/2″ piece of white cardstock
- Four 4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces for the insides of your coloured card bases
- Coordinating Colour 1: 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″
- Coordinating Colour 2: 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ and 4-1/8″ x 4-1/8″
These are the supplies you’ll need to create the card bases. In addition to the supplies listed above, you’ll need punches, dies, stamps, ribbon and embellishments to create your focal points. I’ve included a full supply list at the bottom of this post so you can see what I’ve used.
We are going to begin by cutting our patterned paper into nine 4″ x 4″ squares. Three of those squares will be cut down further. I’ve created a cutting guide that you can print here. However, I also walk through cutting the patterned paper and creating the cards in the video posted below.

I appreciate that in the base supply list you include the supplement information, such as coordinating cardstock for layering or embellishing.
