In today’s post I thought I’d share how I’m documenting 2026. This years focus is on simplifying my process and using my stash so I wanted to come up with a way I could focus on both of those things while still recording the memories I didn’t want to forget.
It all started with this unfinished project jar idea I shared late last year. One of the first projects I pulled out to complete was this 6″ x 8″ album that I had started as an example for a class but then never fully finished. I didn’t have a plan for the album and the title ‘The Good Life’ seemed like the perfect title for my yearly album. So I went through my stash and picked pattern papers and other supplies that I thought would work with it to create a kit.
I’m not holding myself to only using those supplies for the entire year – that would get boring. But they are there and I can pull anything else I’d like to use as I go. My plan is to document just a few memories a month. I do have some big trips planned this year but I will document those in a separate mini album specific to the trip. More on those as they happen:)
Let’s take a look…
This is the title page, I shared a few details on it in this post.
And today I thought I’d share a few of the pages I created to document the month of January.
I’m using a little bit of everything – no restrictions in this album. So I’ve got a little bit of vintage lace from my stash, down the side but I combined it with a fun new bundle called Capturing Smiles.
I love this little film strip die!
For this layout I used scraps of dsp, some patterned 6×8 paper that a friend gave me and some random stickers from a sticker sheet.
This final layout I’m sharing for today uses the Covered in Flowers Accents as my embellishments. I can now say that I finished the entire sheet of these die cut pieces. You can find a set of cards I created using them as the focal point in this blog post.
I’ve got to admit I’m loving this 6×8 format and telling just a few important stories each month. I think it will be a great album to look back on at the end of the year. And one that I may just be able to keep up on!
Until next time,
