In today’s blog post I’m sharing 3 ways to use the Thoughtful Moments hybrid embossing folder.
If you aren’t familiar with hybrid embossing folders they come as a bundle – an embossing folder and a die set that coordinate. You can feed both through at the same time and it will emboss and cut at the same time. At the moment we have 5 different hybrid embossing folders but a few of them will be retiring at the end of April 2024.
- Tree Rings Hybrid EF (retiring)
- Adoring Hearts Hybrid EF
- Sweet Citrus Hybrid EF (retiring)
- Delightful Doily Hybrid EF (retiring) and
- Thoughtful Moments Hybrid EF – this is the one I’m using today
I’ve filmed a video sharing these three cards where I walk you through how to use the hybrid embossing folder. You can find it below.
Using Foil
The first way that you can use the Thoughtful Moments EF is just as it’s intended to be used – to cut and emboss a word. But look how amazing it looks done with foil!
Measurements:
- Thick White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Lighter than Air DSP: 3-3/4″ x 5″ and 1″ x 5-1/2″ and 1″ x 3-3/4″ (see video for how to cut so you use the whole 6×6 piece)
- Holographic Foil: 2″ x 3-1/2″
- Azure Afternoon: 1/2″ x 5-1/2″
- Blue Twine: 8″
- Rainbow Dots: x2
Matting the Greeting
For the second card, the greeting was cut out and then matted. To do this I die cut and embossed the greeting from white card stock. Then I just die cut the shape of the greeting (without embossing) from some azure afternoon (or fresh freesia). I cut the shape in half from side to side and then added it behind the embossed greeting leaving it peeking out above and below.
Measurements:
- Thick Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Azure Afternoon or Fresh Freesia: 3-3/4″ x 5″ and 4th smallest Stylish Shapes circle
- Lighter than Air DSP: 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″; 1-1/8″ x 3-5/8″ and use the leftover for the envelope flap (see video for how to cut the 6×6 piece of pattern paper)
- Lemon Lolly: 3rd smallest Stylish Shapes circle
- Bubble Bath or Fresh Freesia: 2nd smallest Stylish Shapes circle
- Pool Party: smallest Stylish Shapes circle
- Lemon Lolly Twine: 8″
- Rainbow Dots:x3
Thank You Card
For this last card I’ve used the hybrid embossing folder with the brayer and some pretty peacock ink. To do this I used the brayer to ink up the side of the embossing folder with the Stampin’ Up! logo, added the dies so they were locked in place and then carefully set the card stock over top, closed the flap and ran it through. The result was an outlined word similar to the title on this scrapbook layout.
But I didn’t stop there, I then took my pretty peacock and pool party blends and coloured in the word for an ombre look. I LOVE how this looks and will definitely do this again.
Measurements:
- Coastal Cabana: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the Layered Florals EF
