In today’s post I’m sharing 4 Christmas cards from one 6×12 pattern paper. For these cards I’m using the Traditions of St. Nick pattern paper but any patterned paper will work. To create the focal points for all 4 cards images were cut from a piece of pattern paper but they could be replaced with stamped images that coordinate with your paper.
In the video linked below, I walk you through cutting the 6″ x 12″ pattern paper so that you have all the pieces you need for all 4 cards.
All of these cards are pretty simple designs and really focus on the patterned paper. These are great design to highligh pattern papers that have beautiful images on them that can be die cut, or fussy cut.
For this first card, I added a layer of vellum between the pattern paper and the focal point because it felt a bit busy. A piece of vellum in between really softened that pattern.
Measurements:
- Copper Clay: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Pattern Paper: 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 3/4″ x 4″ and fussy cut Santa and trees
- Vellum: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
- Basic White: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (inside) and 1″ x 5-1/2″
- Twine: 8″
- Rustic Dots: x3
For this second card, I kept it simple and used several of the little images from one of the other pattern paper pieces. I love the little cluster of Christmas goodies above the greeting!
Measurements:
- Basic White Thick: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Pebbled Path: 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″
- Pattern Paper: 3″ x 4″ and fussy cut elements
- Basic White: Heartfelt Hexagon shape
- Twine: 16″
Cutting pattern paper to 3″ x 4″ pieces is a go to for me. There are so many ways that you can decorate a card and make it unique even if all your pattern papers are the same size. Check out this video for 12 ideas on how to use 3″ x 4″ pieces of patterned papers.

Thank you for the inspiration with the St. Nick DSP. I cased your cards and had fun playing with the paper all afternoon. Loved the copper clay background piece. Would have never thought how beautiful it could be until I saw your cards. I am a hobby SU demonstrator.
