Today I’m sharing this Artistically Inked art journal layout. I am loving the idea of using my Stampin’ Up! products in this way. It’s fun to get messy, and just play. This layout is the result of lots of odds and ends and I love how it turned out.
The background was created in stages. The yellow was leftover ink after doing the packaging technique on another project. I didn’t want to waste the ink, so I pulled out my art journal knowing that some day I would come back to it.
Next up came the parakeet party strips of ink. These were also leftover from a mix that I had when I was planning my Pearlized Enamel Effects class (find all the details for that class here). I simply using a brush and brushed the leftover ink onto the background. Then came the Tahitian tide splotch – that’s a stamp from the Artistically Inked stamp set. I felt like it needed a bit of contrasting colour and wanted to keep the colours brights. At this point I had no idea what I was going to do for embellishments.
Leftover Pieces
One of the things I want to use this art journal for is to use up bits and pieces that I have leftover from previous projects. When I pulled out my Artistically Inked stamp set, I noticed that I had a baggy full of leftover pieces that I’d stamped and die cut but never used. Many of those pieces ended up getting added to this layout.
I also had a leftover die cut piece from creating this card last week. The gold frame is leftover from an embellishment kit that retired with the last catalogue but it was tucked in with some random bits and pieces so I decided to add it to this layout. The bow is a bit unexpected but I love it.
To finish off the layout I decided to add some little hand drawn +. My favourite Sharpie pen was perfect for this. I love that it pulls in another black element.
I haven’t been doing this type of crafting for long but I can see myself really getting into it. It’s so much fun and I love that I’ve been using up all those leftover pieces I have hanging around.
Until next time,
