Todays retreat recap post is coming to you a little late as I recover from a crafting hangover lol. I must say that I’m glad to have been at a retreat this weekend. The timing couldn’t have been any better.
What an incredible week we’ve had, and not in a good way. It was almost like were were in our own little bubble out there, protected from everything that is happening in our world. Once home though, it didn’t take long for reality to set in, with schools cancelled indefinitely, university classes suspended, along with so many things that are just unknown. This is definitely going to be an event for the history books!
Back to the retreat…
Mom and I loaded the car and headed out to Bittern Lake for retreat weekend. Car is packed full as it always is!
It’s amazing how much ‘stuff’ you need when you are spending 3 days crafting and it never fails – there is always something you forget. Thankfully it wasn’t my paper cutter this time lol!
The weekend had a different feel to it. We had a few ladies who didn’t make it out for several different reasons but all, in some way, related to COVID-19. I found that I didn’t take as many photos or even get as much accomplished as I normally do because of the tension in the air. Everyone did enjoy themselves – it was a great weekend but what was happening around us was always looming.
I always have a theme for my retreats and this time it was a Honey Bee theme. So most of the gifts were focused around that theme. I had this on everyones table to indicate where they were sitting. I love how they turned out!
This was one of the gifts they received. And we played Honey Bee Bingo where all the tasks were in some way tied to bees or what they do. It was fun!
I got this idea from my friend Lisa Althouse. It’s so fun to take something as ordinary as a package of gum and make it pretty!
If you are in the Edmonton, Sherwood Park or surrounding areas, and would like to attend one of my creative retreat weekends. Here are the dates that I have coming up. If you’d like more information, just let me know and I can send you the details.
