Today I’m sharing a couple card ideas using fancy border dies and the Impressions Abloom bundle from Stampin’ Up!® I’ve been sharing lots of samples using this bundle over the last few weeks. If you missed them, I’ll link them below.
I love this big chunky border die from the Fancy Borders dies – it’s my favourite. However, you could easily recreate this same design using any fancy border die.
The difference between these two cards is that one is created using the flower dies and the other with the stamped flowers. Which one do you prefer?
Measurements:
- Thick Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Floral Impressions DSP: 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
- Basic White: 3-3/4″ x 5″ and 3-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ for stamping (or coordinating card stock for die cutting)
- Garden Green Linen Thread: approximately 16″
- Strawberry Slush Gems: x2
These stamped flowers are my favourite. I don’t buy many flower stamps but when I do, I definitely get my use out of them. No exception with this beautiful bundle.
Card 2
For this card design, I used one of the more details border dies. The initial card I created used the Mini Corrugated embossing folder. I didn’t love it with this folder – it felt a bit too embossed. So I decided to try the Exposed Brick embossing folder. That one is perfect.
Measurements:
- Thick Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Basic White: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with mini corrugated EF or exposed brick EF; 4″ x 1-1/2″ die cut with fancy border die; 1-1/4″ x 4″
- Strawberry Slush: 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ for die cutting middle sized flower
- Pretty in Pink: 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ for die cutting flowers
- Garden Green: 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ for die cutting leaves
- Daffodil Delight: 1″ x 1″
- Strawberry Slush Gems: x3
It’s hard to tell from the photo but I added a bit of paper piercing just above the border. Paper piercing is such a great way to add extra detail to a project.
I filmed a video showing you how these two card designs come together. You can find it linked below.
If you love these cards, be sure to check out the Impressions Abloom class to go. There’s still time to register!
Until next time,
