Today I’m sharing a fun Christmas card with a farmhouse feel to it. I love the farmhouse decor trend – most of my house is decorated in a modern farmhouse style. So as soon as I saw Stampin’ Up!’s Classic Wedding bundle I knew I had to turn it into a little red truck and fill it with all the things.
As you can see this bundle is designed for wedding cards but one of the things I love about stamps & ink is that there are no limits to what we can do with them.
I had visions of a red truck filled with a tree and presents driving through the forest on the way home for Christmas. The first thing I needed to do was to find some other sets that had a tree and some gifts that worked with the scale of the ‘truck’. I grabbed the gifts from the Labeled with Love stamp set and the tree from the Reindeer Fun stamp set. The scale and style of those two sets seemed like a good fit.
Measurements:
- Thick Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Basic White: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ for stamping & die cutting
- Pool Party: 3-3/4″ x 5-1/8″
- Garden Green: 2″ x 3″
- Silver Foil: 1″ x 3-1/2″
The Background
To create the background, I used some night of navy ink and a blending brush to add a border around a piece of pool party card stock. I wanted it to look darker around the edges and get gradually lighter so that it looks like the headlights are lighting the way. Once I was happy with the look, I embossed it with the Painted Trees embossing folder and then splattered with some white ink to give the look of snowflakes.
I’ve got a video sharing how I created this card below.
I think this is one of my all time favourite cards that I’ve created in the 20 years I’ve been a demonstrator. I have an idea to turn it into a Christmas ornament. If it works I’ll share.
If you’d like some additional ideas on how to use this set, be sure to check out this tutorial where I share 3 different card ideas using it.
Until next time,
