I’ve got a fun Christmas one sheet wonder template to share with you today. If you like to get a jump start on your holiday cards, this is a template you can use over and over by simply switching out the pattern paper! You can get 6 cards from 1 sheet of double sided pattern paper, 3 of which I’ve turned into gift card holders. But don’t limit yourself to just Christmas cards – this template can be used for cards of any occasion!
To get started here’s what you need…
- 1 sheet of double sided 12×12 pattern paper. It’s easier if it isn’t directional.
- 1 and a 1/2 sheets of coordinating colour 1 (cut 1 into two 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card bases, and the 1/2 piece into 4″ x 5-1/4″, the leftover piece will be die cut. Old Olive used in these samples.
- 1 and a 1/2 sheets of another coordinating colour (cut 1 into 4-1/4″ x 11″ for one card base and use the 1/2 sheet for the other card base, the leftover piece will be used for die cutting. Mossy Meadow used in these samples.
- 3 pieces of neutral card stock (very vanilla). Cut one into 2 card bases; the other into 4 pieces of 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside of the cards and the rest is used for die cutting
- Gold foil scraps – about 1/2″ by 8″
- Coordinating embellishments, ribbon and twine
- Greeting stamp set and coordinating ink
Cutting the pattern paper
This template was inspired by one that I saw from Michelle Price. I made a few adjustments to work for the cards I wanted to design.
- Cut a 5″ x 12″ strip and then cut that in 1/2 at 6″. Those two pieces will then be scored at 3-3/4″
- The next strip is cut at 4″ x 12″ and then into three 4″ x 4″. Two of those pieces will then get cut down at an angle. Mark 1″ from opposite sides and then cut diagonally.
- The last strip should be 3″ x 12″ and you’ll cut it down to 3″ x 2″; 3″ x 4″ and 3″ x 6″ and scored as shown above.
You can find a video showing you how these 6 cards come together below.
One Sheet Wonder Card #1
We are starting with a simple card. This one uses one of the 4″ x 4″ pieces and the 2″ x 3″ piece.
Measurements:
- Old Olive: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Very Vanilla: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (inside); 1″ x 5″ for die cutting
- DSP: 4″ x 4″ and 2″ x 3″ cut down to 1-1/2″ and then die cut for inside and outside
- Gold Foil: 1/2″ x 4″ (x2)
- Twine & embellishments
One Sheet Wonder Card #2 and #3
The next two cards follow the same layout, but to give them a different look and feel I flipped over the pattern paper and changed out the colour of the tags. I love the very vanilla and gold one.
Measurements:
- Very Vanilla card bases: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (x2) and scrap for die cutting the tag
- DSP: 4″ x 4″ (cut diagonally) x2
- Mossy Meadow: scrap for die cutting tag
- Ribbon
- Twine
- Embellishments
One Sheet Wonder Cards #4 and #5
The last three cards are gift card holders. However, the gift card could be replaced with a few little holiday themed tags tucked into the pocket. The receiver could then use the tags and then even reuse the card!
Measurements:
- Mossy Meadow: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (x2)
- Very Vanilla: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (x2) for inside; scraps for die cutting
- DSP: 5″ x 6″ scored at 3-3/4″
- Fussy/Die cut images from the pattern paper and vellum
- Ribbon, Twine and embellishments
One Sheet Wonder Card 6
This card has a bit of a different fold to it. The flag opens up to reveal what you see in the next photo.
Measurements:
- Old Olive: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ and die cut shape
- Very Vanilla: 4″ x 5-1/4″ (inside) and scrap for die cutting
- DSP: 3″ x 6″ scored at 1″ ; 3″ x 4″ scored at 3/4″ (see diagram above); die/fussy cut elements from the pattern paper
- Mossy Meadow: 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed with the birch wood EF
- Ribbon, Twine and embellshments
This is with the flap open. Then the bottom opens down to reveal a pocket for a gift card.
I hope you enjoyed this Christmas one sheet wonder and that it inspires you to give it a try,
Until next time,
