Let’s talk about scrapbooking without photos. We don’t always have photos for the things we want to document or the stories we want to tell. That doesn’t mean the story isn’t worth telling or our thoughts worth recording. There are several creative ways to create beautiful scrapbook layouts without photos.
Our kids still live at home but spend a lot of time doing their own things. We are currently experiencing a pandemic and therefore don’t leave our house much. I don’t document our every days lives any more. All these things mean I take fewer photos. But I still have stories I want to tell – especially about life during a pandemic.
I also want to tell some stories from my childhood and I don’t always have photos to go along with those stories. It’s ok to tell those stories without photos. They are just as important as the pages with photos as the focal point!
So today I thought I would share a layout I created without any photos and then do a round up of some of my favourites that I’ve found online. In the hopes that they will inspire you!
This layout was inspired by my current love of rainbows and the May 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. I wanted to document the story of how rainbows have become a sign of hope during the pandemic. I love that I was able to create a layout to document this little story of hope to add to our family album. It will be a great one to look back on years from now.
Additional Layout Ideas with no Photos

I LOVE the ideas of documenting your favourite movie quotes. But you could use the same idea for your favourite quotes, bible verses, movies, books etc. So many options!
Have a favourite poem, quote or bible verse? Document it!
I love the idea of documenting a conversation you never want to forget! Sometimes you don’t want to ruin the moment by snapping a photo or can’t snap a photo but you never want to forget what was said, how you felt or what happened.
I love the idea of documenting the right now this way.
And then of course there are the stories, long or short, that we want to tell.
In the end scrapbooking is all about telling our stories. Whether you have photos for those stories or not, they are worth telling!
Have a creative day!
